Who am I?

I am Jo.

I am a mother. I am a nature lover and immerser. I find solace and inspiration in nature’s embrace. I am a runner: “a mover in nature,” I prefer to describe it as, because I go slow and stop often to smell the roses. I am a skier. I am a mountain and ocean lover. I am a yogini. No, I can’t do scorpion pose and other wonderous bendy positions, but I do love playing and discovering what my 50 plus year old body can do. Yoga is a form of meditation for me. I am against “anti aging” and pro aging well. I welcome the grey highlights in my hair and the skin that seems to have slunk from my upper arms to gather at my elbows. Sometimes it is not a very warm welcome, but I try in those moments to turn my attention to things I can be grateful for.

I am a writer, a public speaker, a storyteller, a stand up performer, a voracious novel reader, and studier of spirituality, health and wellbeing, philosophy, psychology and neuroscience. I find the courage to put myself out there despite the fear. It’s f****g hard sometimes to do this. I am a facilitator, an inviter, and an opener of conversations that are often only whispered in secret. I am a connector of others to others, a connector of myself to a bigger picture that involves a sprinkling of stardust. I am an early morning riser. I am a wellness advocate, promoting the importance of holistic health: mind, body, and soul.

I am motivated and a motivator. I am so disciplined that I carry a whip. I am bringing awareness into this trait and becoming a little more gentle with my personal flagellation. I am fuelled by passion and perseverance. I am able to see the inspiration and potential in others. I am an inspirer myself sometimes. I am a courageous life liver, learning to be with every moment whether it consists of pain or pleasure. I walk tall but acknowledge those times when I feel small. In those instances I hold myself with extra care knowing that’s where the gold is, where transformation begins.

I am a celebrator, rejoicing in the beauty of life, in the little things and moments that we can easily pass by. I am open hearted. I am a kindness ambassador. I am an advocate for those who are often marginalised by society. I am a meditation facilitator and an empathetic mediator. I am a student of life and the human spirit, constantly aspiring to learn and grow.

I am Jo. And I am here to celebrate you. I’m here to support you to make positive life changes and live to your full potential. In the words of Mary Oliver, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
