Yellow

Yellow makes me smile. Yellow is sunflowers. Yellow is butter melting in the pan on a slow Sunday morning. Yellow is egg yolks and new beginnings. Yellow is opportunity. Yellow is a warm glow. Yellow is hope.

On grey days a yellow knit jumper can transform my mood. On sunny days my yellow and white vintage polka dot dress matches the sunny mood of freedom and playfulness.

My surname is Sundberg as you probably know by now. I was nicknamed “Sunny” for many years, before I became Cloudy. I was never called cloudy actually, but I certainly have had a lot of names. Oh so many stories… I liked being called Sunny. What’s in a name? Everything. If that is how we define ourselves. So be careful what you call yourself, or allow others to call you. That negative self talk, the names we call ourselves, can just be so horrible and mean. We would never talk to anyone else like that. Be aware of when you start with the self shaming. Catch it. You have to be vigilant. Pause and switch those dark names to sunnier ones. The only way through anything is to begin with kindness and compassion to yourself.

Yellow is the colour for the Manipura Chakra. Located in the solar plexus, Manipura means the city of jewels. Stay with me here. ‘This energy center governs our ability to be confident, assertive, and make decisions from a place of inner wisdom. It is also the key to unlocking our personal power and building a strong sense of self” explains Ram Jain. Whether we agree or want to deny, the fact is that:

“Everything is Energy and that is all there is to it…”
–Albert Einstein

So I will take that fire of yellow and bathe my solar plexus in those vibes. Why not? God knows I have needed those qualities strengthened at times.

Anyway, I just like yellow ok. That’s why I chose it for my website. One person said they liked my orange website. But they are certified colour blind.

I hope the yellow lifts you up with hope also and unleashes that vitality and personal power we all have at our core.
